GIMLE: THE BROKEN PROPHECY
It’s Friday… and you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, it’s time for the Summary of Progress no. #! We look to the future with increasing excitement, as each day brings us closer to an extremely important date. As you may remember, this date marks the release of the Builders of Greece: Prologue version and the release of a brand new, second Gameplay Trailer. And although we haven’t announced a specific deadline yet, it will happen in Q2 of this year, so it’s pretty near!
But let’s not forget about our other projects, which are also developing and improving with each passing week. In keeping with tradition, we will begin with a visit to the frigid realms of the North, shrouded in the mist of magic and myths. We are sure you are wondering what the brave Vikings from the world of Gimle are up to! Then we will go to the sunny shores of Ancient Greece, where we will admire all the novelties and cool new assets Off we go!
Gimle - The new shape of the main mechanics of the game
If you’ve been following the “Summary of Progress” series at least for a while, you surely know that we’ve been engaged in a complete revamp and remaster of Gimle’s core mechanics and systems for some time now. Well, the end of this long and demanding quest is already visible somewhere on the horizon and is approaching us at a slow but steady pace.
Invariably, as in previous weeks, our designers and developers face the daunting task of improving and expanding key gameplay elements. The results of our first tests seem very promising, which leads us to believe that things are on the right track Of course, it is too early to talk about the completion of the work, but we will soon be ready to show you the first results. As always – stay tuned, stay hyped, and look forward to more info straight from the harsh realms of battle-seasoned Vikings!
Builders of Greece
While we treat all our games with equal commitment and care, the most interesting things are currently happening in the Builders of Greece project In the case of Builders of Greece, we are able to show you the actual results of our work in the form of graphic assets and animations, which we know you like very much. As we mentioned, the Prologue version is coming really soon, so our work is all the more strenuous and intense.
We’re currently running a lot of tests (which is mega fun, since we’re constantly building new test cities), and this allows us to more or less predict what your adventure in Prologue will look like. The game is also filled with new content…. which you can see down below!
Sea, sails, and the cry of seagulls... it's high time for a cruise!
While people of ancient Greece traded and traveled in many ways, including rivers, trails, and roads, none could match the power of maritime trade. The advantages of sea trade are indeed many – huge cargo capacity, traveling speed, or the possibility of visiting multiple ports during a single trip are just some among many π In addition, let’s not forget that the ancient Greeks were known for their love of the sea and their high sailing skills, making them second to none in this field. They were able to reach almost all corners of the then known world and exchange valuable goods. And that’s what is why…
They built fast and efficient Trading Ships! You’re sure to recognize them among other vessels by their distinctive hull with typical eye painting on the bow. With its wide sails and special rigging, the ship can travel at tremendous speed! With such ships, it should come as no surprise that one of the cornerstones of Ancient Greece power was maritime trade. With luck and strong gusts of wind, your traders will soon reach the farthest ports and fill their cargo holds with valuable treasures and goods!
The humble beginnings of great things
Every empire, even the richest and largest, once had its humble beginnings. Your city is no different! Below you can see what the newly built Agora, which is a kind of center of your Polis, will look like. Over time, as you raise more funds and resources, the Agora can change beyond recognition and be enriched with beautiful columns, stone walls, and colorful stalls You will surely watch this process with great satisfaction – every ruler enjoys seeing his Agora reach the next stages, which is the best confirmation of their management and command skills!
Commoners Houses as the core of your infrastructure
As you can see, Thetes houses are rnot huge and advanced. They mainly consist of simple, stone blocks. Although such a house does not seem particularly cozy and roomy, it fulfills its function perfectly – it provides safety and a place to live for numerous Thetes families π¨βπ¦° Our graphic designers tried to convey their simplicity, while making them look cozy and pleasing to the eye. As we mentioned, such houses will be a common sight in your city, so we hope you like them! We believe that their beauty lies in their simplicity and authenticity – would you agree? Some time ago we published an extensive post about these structures, so if you want to learn more about them, visit the article HERE Β»
If you want to share your thoughts and opinions on the graphics novelties, be sure to visit our Discord server or Steam Discussions. We always love to hear your feedback, so please donβt hesitate to speak up!
What a catch!
As at the end of each entry, we want to show you a cool animation! Let’s take a look, shall we?
Every day, fishing boats leave the wharf in search of the gifts of the sea. Your fishermen, being masters of their craft, strive to catch fish and other seafood that will allow you to satisfy the appetites of your city’s residents. Their task, however, is not easy! The rough sea, high waves, and wind certainly don’t make their job any easier However, sea people are tough – let’s appreciate how bravely this fisherman fights his catch. There is no shortage of imprints on his hands, but he certainly derives satisfaction from practicing this demanding, rewarding profession.
