Welcome to the next part of our “Architect’s Corner” series, in which we tell you all about the buildings you will have at your disposal as a ruler of an ancient Greek Polis. Discover interesting tips and tricks, learn how to effectively plan the development of your city, and check out how many useful structures you can raise – all this to the glory of a great ruler, such as yourself! πŸ‘‘

Rest and recreation of your citizens

A hard day of work in a vineyard, sawmill, workshop or mine can take its toll… In such cases, your subjects will naturally long for a moment of respite and well-deserved rest 😴 And it is your job to meet these demands!

Today, we will take a closer look at two unique places in which people of your Polis can regain their exhausted strength and refresh their minds. Wise rulers know that the cultural and leisure needs of their subjects should not be taken lightly – in fact, they can significantly affect their level of satisfaction… and even attitude towards your reign!

Odeon

Just a quick glance is enough to discover that the Odeon is a place of high culture and art. A large, multi-story structure. Colorful columns, walls, and a tiled roof. Decorative statues and ornaments. When you stand at its door, it makes a truly stunning impression… and that’s the goal! πŸ› One of Odeon’s tasks is to provide your subjects with a sense of luxury, class, and grandeur. The real magic, however, begins after we cross its threshold…

The Odeon is where your townspeople can touch the eerie sphere of Sacrum and delve into beautiful musical and theatrical performances. Knowing the history of Ancient Greece, we understand how much importance was once attached to this type of cultural events. The Odeons and Amphitheaters were regularly filled with crowds of viewers who wanted to see the acting representation of myths, historical events, and the most interesting stories of the time πŸ“œ

It is no different with your subjects who gather in the Odeon you have built. Thanks to the culture your subjects acquire in such places, they can increase and improve their social status. This is especially important in the later stages of the game, when your city is already quite developed and needs noble families that increase its prestige and wealth 🧐 Obviously, building an Odeon is not cheap, quick, or easy, but at some point, this investment will definitely pay off – be sure not to miss it!

Lesche

Definitely less impressive and majestic… but still an equally important building! Wait – a simple, modest Lesche is just as necessary as the great Odeon? Well… of course! And this is why 😁

The majority of the society you will have an occasion to rule is made up of lower social classes. We are talking about basic, rather simple workers, who spend their days in places such as mines, farms, non-specialized workshops, or granaries. Undoubtedly, these are difficult and tiring professions…

That being said, it should come as no surprise that this wide group of your subjects prefers cheap and accessible kinds of recreation. And it just so happens that Lesche is one of them! 🍺 In fact, it’s hard to find a better place to relax, grab something to eat, socialize with fellow citizens, and simply rest before the next day of hard work 🀝 The most important role of Lesche is to provide a refreshing meal to workers who are too far away from their homes during their working day. Such a visit saves a lot of time and energy!

Hosting dozens of guests, Lesche is constantly filled with sounds of laughter, cheerful conversations, and clanking of clay pots. It is true – it doesn’t provide a deep cultural feeling like the Odeon, but it definitely does its job!

In the following parts of the series, we will return with descriptions of many other cool structures that will ensure the safety, well-being, and development of your city. We hope that the buildings presented today will find their place among the streets of your Polis, and that they will contribute to the growth of your magnificent kingdom! πŸ˜€ As always – thank you and stay tuned!
