Summary of Progress #11

Be sure to check out our Social Media

Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with game development. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly we do to moveΒ our titlesΒ towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!

GIMLE: THE BROKEN PROPHECY

Two weeks ago we celebrated the tenth part of the Summary of Progress series, but that does not mean we will rest on our laurels and slow down with publishing cool news and information about our projects – not at all! Down below, you can find yet another packet of interesting information regarding the development of our projects! πŸ“’ And there are a few cool things we want to tell you about!

As usual, we will start with Gimle: The Broken Prophecy. We will go on a journey through mountainous lands, misty fjords, and dangerous forests in search of awesome novelties and new content. Who knows, maybe today we will manage to meet some wonderful, mythical creatures? All right, hop on board and here we go! 😁

Polishing the movement system, trade UI, and wielding various weapons option

If you regularly visit our Summary of Progress series, you know that we pay a lot of attention to the movement system πŸ¦ΆπŸ’¨ We believe that this is one of the most important mechanics in the game, as it will accompany us from its very beginning to the end. Not to mention the fun factor of intuitive control of the hero’s character during combat, looting fascinating locations, or interacting with NPCs. Our developers carefully polish and improve the movement system so that Brand always does exactly what you intended.

Speaking of NPCs – apart from the movement system, we also worked on the trade panel. Our graphic designers and programmers tried to reflect the unique Nordic atmosphere with the help of UI – we try to make the panel legible, clear, beautiful, and full of viking-like elements. 🀝 If we succeed, each transaction will be a fun, mini-adventure!

Ok, it’s time for the feature that is probably the most interesting for you all, adventurers – combat! Once again, our developers faced long lines of code and tried their best to enrich Gimle with another important mechanic… and in a result, Brand’s second hand can now wield powerful items! βš” It is only up to you whether you put an axe, sword, dagger, shield, or other weapon in it – the only limit is your imagination… and maybe luck while collecting loot from defeated enemies 😁

Here it comes - the mighty Heart of the Elder Forest

Totally scary and awesome! Huge and deadly dangerous! Disgusting… and yet intriguing. Behold the Heart of The Elder Forest – one of the mini-bosses you will face during your journey through the realm of Gimle! 🌳 Our artists have worked really hard to breathe life into this amazing creature – take a moment to admire its twisted vines, raging skulls, catchy details, and colossal posture.

It is said that the Heart of The Elder Forest was brought to life by Gods themselves… and who knows, maybe there is a grain of truth in this statement. The only thing we know for sure is that once this monster wreaked havoc in the ancient forests and preyed on its fauna. As can be seen from the digested skeletons that constitute its integral part, it does not disdain food in the form of human flesh and blood πŸ’€ Our team had a lot of fun designing this unique opponent – we are sure that when you come to face it, you will have as much fun as we did!

Builders of Greece

We are very excited about your reactions to the graphic enhancements we introduced in the last installment of the series! Your kind words mean a lot to us and give us the strength to continue our hard work. Thank you, everyone! πŸ’•πŸ™

We believe that today we have no less interesting news for you. In the last fourteen days, we have started work on military units that you will be able to send into battle for the glory of your empire. In addition, we have expanded the range of available buildings with two new items. Let’s see!

Psiloi, MOVE OUT!

We must admit that war and the military are features that we have not devoted much time to so far. However, that is changing now! Just look at this brave Psiloi. He may not be very well-equipped, but he definitely makes up for it with his courage and discipline. πŸ’ͺ There are leather shin guards on his legs, and in his hands, there is a wooden shield and a long spear – remember to keep the pointy side towards the enemy! Soon you will be able to form squads of Psiloi and, thanks to their great deeds, expand your reigns and influence.

We hope that in the next weeks we will be able to tell you a bit more about the war system in Builders of Greece and introduce you to the next, more advanced units. But enough about that – let’s move on to a more peaceful topic. Everyday life of every citizen of your Polis is based on work. After all, without it no buildings, planks, bread, wine, medicines, roads, or other crucial things could even exist, right?Β βš’

Therefore, to enable your subjects to work, our developers tried to place them in workshops, farms, and administrative buildings during their working hours. There is still some work ahead of us, but the workers are already occupying their workplaces and performing labor animations while performing their tasks.

If you want to share your thoughts and opinions on the graphics improvements and presented features, be sure to visit our ➑️ Discord server or πŸ’ Steam Discussions. We always love to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to speak up!Β

NEW BUILDINGS - Healer's House and Trading Post

We believe that one of the main pillars of the good Citybuilder game is the possibility to build numerous, varied buildings. After all each of them is in some way connected with the others (be it productive or service) and is part of the great, vibrant organism that your city is πŸ› That is why we are constantly expanding the range of available buildings, and this time your options are enriched by the Healer’s House and Trading Post.

An example is right in front of us! Not so long ago, we wrote about the Herbalist’s House, which is necessary for the work of a healer and provides him with valuable herbs. Thanks to the medicines, the healer can treat your subjects from various, sometimes even deadly diseases. The trading post, in turn, is where your trading partners’ caravans rest and operate. When the caravan arrives your post, you will be informed by a special notification… and then the process of exchanging goods will begin. We hope you know how to bargain! πŸ’°
