Summary of Progress #19

Be sure to check out our Social Media

Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with game development. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!

GIMLE: THE BROKEN PROPHECY

It’s Friday… and you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, it’s time for the Summary of Progress no. #1⃣9⃣! Almost everyone is getting ready for Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations. Well, we are also thinking about them, but we are not slowing down the pace of our work until the very end! Before we get to the heart of the matter, i.e. a description of the changes we’ve been able to implement in our projects over the past two weeks – a quick reminder (in case you missed it earlier).

Let’s take a closer look at the Q4 2022 of our Content RoadMap. In addition to the Pre-Playtest Contest, there is also a point about the new Trailer from the game. Our work on the Trailer is in full swing, and it looks much, much better every day! However… we have to postpone it to January 2023 – and for a good reason!

Creating a Trailer is quite a novelty for us, which, although inspires and excites us a lot, also slightly surprised us with its time-consuming nature ⏳ It’s not an easy task, but we do our best to reflect the rich content and great fun of playing Builders of Greece. And believe us, there is a lot to show! That is why we have to ask you for a little more patience – thank you for understanding and your continued support, everyone! With that settled, let’s move on to the Summary of Progress.

Slowly but steady - a rework of main mechanics

As we mentioned, we do our best to stick to the deadlines set out in the Builders of Greece Content RoadMap. That is why we shifted part of our attention and manpower to this project. This does not mean, however, that we have abandoned work on Gimle – no worries there! Anyway, we’d love to tell you about epic skirmishes, glorious deeds, mighty artifacts, and forgotten lands – and we surely will do that soon ⚔ but before it happens, we have to rework the main mechanics of the game. This is a well-known topic that we have mentioned several times before in our series. The rework, although quite demanding and time-consuming, is constantly moving forward!

Once we deal with this task, nothing will stop us from implementing (and showing you!) completely new features of the game and its wonderful world. It’s coming sooner than you expect, so stay tuned! 😁

Builders of Greece

Oh boy, there’s so much going on in Builders of Greece that we don’t know where to start 🤓 We work on brand-new visuals and Trailer from the game. There is a Pre-Playtest Contest taking place on our Discord server. We created many new cool animations, buildings, items, and much, much more. Time is passing inexorably, but we are certainly on the right track, and we are very pleased with our progress. We have quite a number of novelties to show you, so let’s dive right into it!

Stunning mosaics to decorate your city

Beautiful aren’t they? Such mosaics will soon decorate your city and its most important buildings. Just look at all the details, interesting colors, and the authentic texture of the stone. Tiny elements make up a breathtaking whole, which presents (among others) fantastic patterns characteristic of Ancient Greece, the most important historical events, animals, or famous heroes 😮 Only the greatest cities can afford such splendors, but all the effort and expense are certainly worth it!

We are currently working on many other materials and textures that will appear in your magnificent Polis. Thanks to them, each city will be able to boast of beautiful colors and art. That will surely please the eyes of both the rulers and their subjects. So cool!

f you want to share your thoughts and opinions on the graphics novelties, be sure to visit our ➡️ Discord server or 💭 Steam Discussions. We always love to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to speak up!

Mine them, store them, process them, and use them however you like!

It’s time to come back down to earth and take care of some more mundane matters. Every time you start the new Builders of Greece map, you will notice many eye-catching elements. One of them is resource deposits! ⛏ They naturally differ in their content, size, colors, texture, and purpose. The more you find, the better – you can never have too much wealth, right?

In order to start mining or gathering, you will have to build an appropriate building and hire some workers. In the case of the Stone Deposit and Clay Deposit shown below, you will need the Quarry and the Clay pit. If you meet all the required conditions, valuable resources will start flowing into your warehouses, which you can later use to develop your city! Of course, there are many, many more such resource deposits, so keep your eyes wide open!

Bringing the Ancient Greece to life

Your subjects perform dozens of different tasks every day. They saw wood in a lumber mill, grow crops, bake bread, make jewelry, transport goods from one place to another… or use a well! As you know, access to fresh, clean water is the basis of every civilization. Having that in mind, our dear citizen is very determined and tirelessly turns the crank to fill his bucket 🪣 with life-giving fluid.

Breathing life into every single inhabitant of your city, every profession, and every activity is a true challenge. Our animators work really hard to make their every move look as authentic and believable as possible – we think they’re doing great so far!

Off to the sea!

Behold – a Trireme powered by impressive sails and dozens of oars has just entered your harbor! 🌊 Who knows what goods it brought to you this time? With a large payload and high speed, this vessel is just perfect for trade and transportation ⚓ The iconic feature of this ship is its distinctive construction (its name means “with three banks of oars”) and the pointed prow with an eye painted on it. Magnificent, isn’t it? Remember to always look for Trireme on the horizon!

Much less impressive, simpler, and more serene… yet still very, very important! Meet fisherman’s boats! Thanks to them, your brave fishermen can go to the open waters and seek their fortune in the domain of Poseidon. It is up to their work to bring tasty fish to the plates of your subjects 🐟 Fish is one of the basic and most versatile foods, which is perfect for all phases of your reigns – from the very beginning until the huge metropolis. Make sure your city has plenty of boats bobbing on the waves along the coast next to your city! 🎣
