Be sure to check out our Social Media

Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with game development. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!

GIMLE: THE BROKEN PROPHECY

It’s Friday… and you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, it’s time for the Summary of Progress no. #2⃣0⃣! Can you imagine? This is the twentieth time we meet in this series! When we look back and recall where we were when the first installment was released, we see how much progress our team and projects have made. It just so happens that today we also have some important information for you, including one groundbreaking news!

Looking to the future fills us with optimism! Our guess is that if we manage to maintain our current pace and commitment (and we certainly will), our games will soon hit your monitors! That would be something… One way or another, let’s get back to the present times and see what’s cool news we have to share with you all today. Here we go!

The most important mechanics of Gimle are created as we speak

No surprises here – as we said in the last part of the Summary of Progress, re-designing, remaking, and retesting all of the core mechanics in the game is an incredibly time-consuming job. And so, our work continues. Designers and programmers are doing their best to improve the most important features of Gimle and make them run smoothly, work intuitively, and (this is our top priority) be fun. There are still many challenges ahead of us in this regard, but as experience has taught us – perseverance, conscientiousness, and commitment are the keys to success!

Once we deal with this task, nothing will stop us from implementing (and showing you!) completely new features of the game and its wonderful world. It’s coming sooner than you expect, so stay tuned! 😁

Decorations worthy of a real Greek

Interesting shapes, colorful elements, gilded decorations, and great awareness of detail – this is how you can briefly describe the next so called “building blocks” prepared by our artists. These types of decorated surfaces can grace the walls and floors of your city’s grandest buildings. Every passer-by will surely stop for a moment to appreciate their beauty! 👀 Obtaining them may not be cheap, but can you put a priece tag on such magnificence at all?
We are currently working on many other materials and textures that will appear in your magnificent Polis. Thanks to them, each city will be able to boast of beautiful colors and art. That will surely please the eyes of both the rulers and their subjects. Will you gather enough resources and riches to place in your city? The time will tell!

If you want to share your thoughts and opinions on the graphics novelties, be sure to visit our ➡️ Discord server or 💭 Steam Discussions. We always love to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to speak up!

Mine them, store them, process them, and use them however you like!

Speaking of beauty – we have one more piece of interesting news for you. Our graphic designers thought about what else could make your Polis even more authentic, deep, colorful, and just plain pretty? 😍 The result of these considerations are two new Boards depicting decorative elements that can grace the streets and structures of your city. They include various types of columns, statues, braziers, banners, ornamental roofs, altars, scupltures, ponds or greenery. And you know what? There are more of them to come! 🌱

It’s no secret that a beautifully decorated city has a better chance of pleasing its inhabitants (and the ruler himself!) The real power of the empire is not only based on its large army or fully stuffed warehouses, but also on its cultural and artistic achievements. Keep this in mind when designing your Polis!

Landing on the shores of ancient Greece

Many say that the most recognizable elements of the Greek landscape are the sun-drenched coasts and bays. And there is a lot of truth in this statement – these southern lands are full of islands, coves, cliffs, and beaches. No wonder you will find many of them around your city! ⚓ Thanks to access to the sea, your city will attain many new possibilities, such as fishing or trading with distant neighbors! Not to mention that the blue water is simply breathtaking… 🌊

To achieve this, we have been working on different types of coasts. And so, over the last fourteen days, our designers did their best to create, set up, and randomize the various shores as much as possible and make them impress you with their beauty and authenticity. Of course, work on this element is still in progress and the whole thing needs some more time, but we managed to take a pretty neat screenshot and give you an early taste of what such shores look like!

Everyday work of your subjects

As your city grows, your subjects will perform increasingly complex tasks. One of them is loading and transporting all sorts of goods that are demanded in all corners of your Polis 📦 And although it is a difficult job, your workers are fully able to handle it. You can find the proof below! The cart is being loaded and soon will be speeding through the long streets of your city. If you took care of smart road connections, the cart will reach its destination in no time!

The loader carefully holds the package and then places it in the wagon. As you can see, he slightly sways and leans over. As with all animations, this time we also wanted to achieve natural, human-like movement and authenticity. So it should not come as a surprise that the work of animators requires perfect perceptiveness, inquisitiveness and creativity 🤓 Your Polis may have dozens, if not hundreds, of different kinds of citizens and workers – our job is to breathe life into them all! When we do that, your city will look like a truly alive, wonderful place.
