GIMLE: THE BROKEN PROPHECY

It’s Friday… and you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, it’s time for the Summary of Progress no. #2⃣2⃣! February, despite being the shortest month of the year, was definitely one of the most important periods in history of our entire studio. It was an unique moment to verify whether what we are doing really appeals to the players and meets their tastes. How did we do? How was our first Demo received? And what will happen next? Today we’re going to wrap up an extremely eventful (and packed with hard work) February. Before we get to Builders of Greece, however, let’s take a look at the windswept and gloomy world of the Vikings…

Changes are on their way!
Although a huge part of our attention is currently devoted to Builders of Greece, you can rest assured that we have not abandoned the Gimle project. And although the task of remaking the game’s main mechanics is quite time-consuming and demanding, it’s still moving forward. It is worth highlighting that after completing this epic mission, Gimle will change beyond recognition, and further development of the project will simply be much easier and faster ⚒ Keep your fingers crossed for the amazing skills, stone-hard perseverance, and unwavering commitment of our designers and programmers – thanks to their work, one day we will all be able to enjoy the new, totally wonderful face of Gimle!

Builders of Greece

Now let’s move on to the main point of todays Summary of Progress! Did you know that not hundreds, but thousands of you played the pre-release version of the game? It is difficult to express how happy we are that Playtest and Demo versions have found their way to your game library and gave you the joy of managing your own ancient city 🥳 The release of the playable version of Builders of Greece is definitely a very meaningful event, but at the same time it did not stop us from further development of the project. Our team continues its hard work to fill your empire with beautiful buildings, interesting events, authentic inhabitants and… yeah, let’s just dive right into it!

The Playtest and Demo versions are behind us. What's next?

For almost the whole of February, you had the opportunity to enter the world of ancient Greece and rule your very own city. You have planned your next steps, made some key decisions, built houses, workshops, fishermen’s huts, planted crops, and trained units to defend your empire from hostile attacks ⚔ We have to admit that we really enjoyed watching numerous let’s-play videos and screenshots showing your magnificent cities. I think we can all agree that you just nailed it!

However, there is no reason to worry, because this is not the end of your adventure with Builders of Greece. As you surely remember from our Content RoadMap, our next release – Builders of Greece: Prologue – is on the way! This means that not only will you be returning to the ancient world of Greek myths, but you will also have the opportunity to play an even more advanced and fun version of the game! 👀 You will have a chance to face the spiritual aspects of your society with the Religion system and fill your treasury to the brim by trading with neighboring empires! More info on the Prologue is coming soon, and in the meantime, let’s take a last look at the beautiful loading screen that made your time in the Demo much more pleasant.

The core feature of the game - buildings!

The core system of Citybuilder games is… well, building. And for the building system to be interesting and rewarding, the buildings you can choose from must not only be numerous, but also perfectly match the world presented in the title. That is why we do not stop in our efforts to thoroughly analyze and, if necessary, remake the buildings that will be at your disposal. Needless to say, such planning requires a lot of research and consultation. Let’s take Marble Camp as an example ⛏ Our designers and artists have carefully thought and planned the operation of this building so that there is no doubt that such a camp could operate in the ancient world. But there is more…
After a hard day of mining marble, it’s time for a nourishing meal. The beautiful smell will surely lead you to Tiganites Bakery, where delicious bread is baked in a heat of fire burning in stone ovens 🥖 These types of edible goods are the perfect complement to fish and meat – as we mentioned before, varied types of edible good positively affect the morale of your subjects. And so, there is no time to lose! Get the required raw materials, hire a baker, and… start producing delicious Tiganites!

One of the iconic symbols of the ancient world - sculptures

What would magnificent ancient palaces, theaters, temples and official buildings be without wonderful sculptures? We know that the ancient sculptors were masters of their craft, and their work delights us to this day – that is why your city has to have at least one Sculptural Workshop, where amazing works of art will be created. However, the visual aspect alone is not everything 🧐 Some of your city’s largest and most prestigious buildings will not be built until you don’t provide them with the necessary decorations – including sculptures! Well, as you can see, the ancient Greeks didn’t use any half measures.

Another day, another animation

As you know, everything good comes from hard work… and works of art are no exception here. Our dear sculptor knows this for sure, as he is just working on the stone, which will soon become an amazing statue decorating your Polis 🏛 The sculptor’s activities are just one of the many animations our team is currently working on – practically every day your subjects are enriched with new complex moves and activities. Considering how many different professions will appear in your empire, we can expect it to look incredibly lively and busy!
