Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with game development. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!
WE ARE HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN!
It’s Friday… and you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, it’s time for the Summary of Progress no. #! We are currently engaged in a very challenging and difficult, yet very rewarding (and fun!) task of creating the second Builders of Greece gameplay trailer. We can’t wait to show you how much our game has changed and what’s in store for you all after its release!
Of course, in addition to the trailer itself, we have also been forging other elements of the game and enriching it with new content, as you will see in a moment. In addition to that, we continued our work on the Gimle project, which is slowly but steadily moving toward next stage of its development.
Gimle - slowly towards the goal
Everything great and valuable requires effort and hard work. It is no different in the gamedev industry. We learned this first hand by taking on the difficult task of remastering Gimle’s core mechanics and features. We are aware that this is not as exciting news as Builders of Greece, but you can be sure that our work is moving forward. Once we reach our goal and revamp the most important elements of Gimle gameplay… oh boy, things are going to get crazy! However, as of today, we can only say that the efforts of our designers and programmers are in full swing and we will come back to you with new information really soon. Until then, brave Vikings!
Builders of Greece
Let’s move on to the glorious world of history, gods, and wine. As usual, there was a lot going on with the Builders of Greece project! As we mentioned above, not only are we preparing another pre-release version of the game “Builders of Greece: Prologue”, but we are also working on a new trailer. These are without a doubt huge challenges, but we are ready to face them and bring you the highest quality in both ventures!
Over the past few weeks, the game has been enriched with some really interesting elements, so let’s get straight to the point!
A quick sneak Peak... on the new MAP
Builders of Greece: Prologue will be richer and more complex than the Demo version you’ve already played – but you already know that. Such an occasion could not do without a new game area, where your brand-new city will be built. And so, you can see a (somewhat mysterious) image of the map you will have at your disposal up above We don’t want to reveal too much of it and spoil the fun, so let’s just say the new map gives A LOT of possibilities. It’s up to you to decide where to lay the first brick of your future empire – choose wisely, as the playing area is quite big and diverse in terms of the landscape and natural resources!
Closer look at the middle class houses
In our last post, we examined the homes of the lowest social class of your empire – the Thetes. Today we move a notch higher and knock on the door of a… kind of middle class – namely Zeugitai. As you can see, their houses are definitely more complex and advanced The building boasts two floors, a much larger area, and a cozy terrace. The whole is topped with a decent red tile. These types of structures will be a common sight in your city, as a sizable portion of your population will advance to the Zeugitai level over time. At least we hope so !
Only your prowess as a ruler will determine whether the city’s poorer residents will climb their way up the social ladder. To achieve this, you need to provide them with the right conditions to thrive – including a well-diversified diet, access to services, and exotic goods As the wealth of your residents grows, so does your tax revenue…. so it’s a mutually beneficial situation! To be honest, we can’t wait to see how you will handle the many challenges and opportunities for the society you will be managing. Oh, one more thing! Some time ago we published an extensive post about these structures, so if you want to learn more about them, visit the article HERE »
If you want to share your thoughts and opinions on the graphics novelties, be sure to visit our Discord server or Steam Discussions. We always love to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to speak up!
From one point to another
As you should never change good habits, we end this entry of Summary of Progress with new animation.
Although the ancient Greeks were quite technologically advanced, human muscles were still the most commonly used “engine.” Luckily, inventions such as a cart certainly made the work of porters easier. You can be sure that you will see many of them on the streets of your city. Efficient transportation of goods between your workshops, trading posts, and service buildings is one of the most important things you will have to take care of as a ruler. Just look how the diligent worker grabs the drawbars of the two-wheeled cart and sets off for his destination – bon voyage, friend!
