Summary of Progress #29

Be sure to check out our Social Media

Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with game development. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!

WE ARE HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN!

It’s Friday… and you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, it’s time for the Summary of Progress no. #2⃣9⃣! Summer is in full swing, but despite the heat and the scorching sun, we are relentless in our efforts to continue developing our amazing projects… especially since a bunch of interesting events and new information await us really soon!

As you know, due to the upcoming release of Builders of Greece: Prologue, most of our manpower is focused on developing this very title. We’ll tell you more about it in a moment, but before that, let’s take a look at our progress in re-making Gimle’s most important mechanics and features. Off we go!

Gimle - Closer and closer to the goal

Unfortunately, the time of exciting news and announcements about finishing the revamp of the game’s basic mechanics has not yet arrived, but no worries, everyone! Gimle is changing for the better basically every single day. As you know, our designers and programmers are constantly working on improving, changing, and developing the most important Gimle systems, and when they succeed, the gameplay will change beyond recognition!

On several occasions we mentioned that this is a demanding and quite time-consuming process ⏳ so we have no other choice to ask you for a little more patience and for keeping your fingers crossed! Our goal is on the horizon… and is getting closer!

Builders of Greece

While Gimle develops at its own steady pace, the development of Builders of Greece goes at full speed! The release date of the Prologue version is just around the corner, so we don’t waste any time and devote ourselves to its improvement! We spend our days on testing, fixing bugs, developing gameplay, or creating on a new Trailer, so there really is a lot going on! 🤓

Builders of Greece: Prologue will be the last significant milestone before the release of the full version of the game, so we need to make sure that it will appeal to players all around the world. That being said, let us tell you how we want to achieve this!

Shipwrecks and the dangers the sea

As you know, the ancient Greeks were a nation of sailors. As experienced people of the sea, they knew how dangerous strong winds, rocks and storms can be. However, sometimes even the finest ships and best skills are not enough. The unfortunate may encounter shallows or rocks and crash against them amidst the cries of seagulls and noise of foaming waves.

Along the coast of your empire, you can occasionally find just such wrecks, which are a warning to other sailors. Our graphic designers have done their best to make them look authentic and… spooky 😱 We believe that such details make the in-game world more believable and immersive, which is why we devote our time and attention to them with great care.

Fear not, however, as you are not left alone. In such difficult cases, your wise counselor slash informant will come to your aid! His working name is “Narrator”, but that’s not what’s important here. What matters is his knowledge. This experienced sage will keep you informed of all the major events taking place in your city and will accompany you throughout your Builders of Greece adventure.

Remember to listen to him with attention and respect, because he is your eyes and ears on your Polis. It is he who will be the first to let you know about unforeseen, Random Events (about which you can learn more here ») and other major events that require your attention. Without a doubt, such a trustworthy advisor is what every wise ruler dreams of!

Beautiful drawings that make the game even more immersive

Speaking of Random Events and various situations you may encounter… we decided that simple, text information alone is just not enough. We want you to feel the weight of the moment when something unusual or unexpected happens in your city. That’s why some of these events will feature dedicated drawings created by our best graphic designers. They will not only make you more immersed in the mysterious ancient world, but also allow you to better assess the current situation you are facing. Such drawings require a lot of work and dedication, so be sure to take a moment to appreciate them when they appear on your screen! 🎨

Among the new content and graphical additions, it is also worth mentioning the huge work that our testers and developers are doing. Day by day they discover, investigate, and fix issues and bugs that could interrupt your good time with the Builders of Greece. This type of tasks also includes adjustment of major mechanics (such as production of goods, transport, trade, citizens hunger and movement, and so on) and, as you can guess, they require a deep understanding of gameplay principles and game’s economy 🧮

Nevertheless, we are sure that before the release of Prologue everything will be buttoned up the last button (which you will soon find out for yourself)!

Thank you, everyone, for your continued support and see you soon in the next Summary of Progress entry!
