Summary of Progress #30

Be sure to check out our Social Media

Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with game development. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!

WE ARE HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN!

It’s Friday… and you know what that means, don’t you? That’s right, it’s time for the Summary of Progress no. 3⃣0⃣! Can you believe it, guys? This is the 30th part of our series! Time flies fast, no doubt about that… especially with so many cool things going on! Each of the previous Summary brought us closer to the goal of releasing our games, and you know what? We are now pretty close! Speaking of which – it’s time to check out what we have been doing in the last few weeks and talk about a few important matters. Here we go!ries

Gimle - Still on its way

Our story about the revamp of Gimle’s main mechanics and features is slowly turning into a true Viking saga – a bit long, but carrying a prophecy. As you know, our prophecy speaks of a complete rework of the game’s core systems, such as moving, fighting, looting, using elements of the environment, interacting with the world and NPCs… and whatnot! 📜 We are doing everything in our power to make it fulfill as soon as possible, but at the same time we bear in mind, that this is quite a demanding and time-consuming task.

Nevertheless, we are getting closer to our goal every single day, and we can’t wait for the day when we will present you the fruits of our work. In addition to the rework, there are other interesting things going on in the Gimle project, and we hope that we will be able to tell you more about them soon…

Builders of Greece

Lately, our days have been filled with hours of testing, troubleshooting, and refining the Prologue build of the game. We have to admit – the whole thing has already taken a pretty good shape, and we’re having a lot of fun playing it! We are aware that there is still a lot of work and optimization ahead of us, but we are optimistic. We believe that once the Prologue gets into your hands, you will share our enthusiasm! 🤩

Anyway, our hard work on improving this pre-release version of the game is in full swing. Almost every day it is enriched with new content, mechanics and features… which we will tell you about in a moment!

Random events and immersive ENVIRONMENT elements

You can be sure that as the ruler of an ancient city you will face many unforeseen situations. These can be both positive, neutral and harmful random events (we dedicated a separate entry to the Random Events system. If you want to learn more, click here ») that can change the whole face of your empire. When such an event knocks on your door, you will have to make a decision…

In such cases, you will see a special Random Events panel 🧐 There you will find an illustration to help you better understand the situation you are dealing with, a detailed description of the event, and buttons with different “what to do” options to choose from. Remember to carefully analyze and think over each decision, as it can have a real impact on the further course of the game. We believe that the panel presented above will make this task easier!

In addition to the Random Events feature, we also worked on beautifying the in-game world. In the last part of Summary of Progress, we showed you a prototype of a shipwreck, and today we smashed it against the coastal rocks. Well, no one said the life of a sailor was easy ☠️ These and other interesting elements of the environment make the gameplay even more immersive and fun, don’t you think? The surroundings of your future city, in addition to mountain peaks, rivers, forests, and meadows, will also consist of such authentic details!

In Builders of Greece, we’re focusing on rather realistic and vibrantly colored graphics. Your early feedback suggests that this is a good direction, so we are very happy with our choice! Although the game is already at a fairly advanced stage of development, we are still paying attention to things that can be visually enhanced or improved. It’s hard to believe how much we’ve managed to change the world of Builders of Greece since we started working on this project 😇 However, as we mentioned, the work goes on, and we won’t stop until we do everything in our power to deliver you with the most polished and beautiful experience possible!

If you want to share your thoughts and opinions on the graphics novelties, be sure to visit our ➡️ Discord server or 💭 Steam Discussions. We always love to hear your feedback, so please don’t hesitate to speak up!

To arms! Let's see how your warriors ARE doing

We have already mentioned that during your adventure with Builders of Greece you will encounter many unforeseen situations and one of the most dangerous of them is the hostile invasion. Foreign forces will be envious of your development, prosperity and power, so don’t be surprised when they send their armies to seize some of your wealth for themselves. Fortunately, if you are prepared well enough, you can fend off their vicious urges!

To this end, our animators have been working on new animations for your soldiers that will keep your empire from being plundered! Slingers are a fast, cheap unit that can rain down enemies with a barrage of projectiles. And although their weapons seem primitive and simple, in fact they can do a lot of damage. Just look at them go! 💪

The spear is the most iconic weapon of Ancient Greece. Your warriors know how to take advantage of its long range and versatility. With a little training, a simple spear becomes a deadly weapon! The spear is used by numerous units, from cheap and simple ones, to more advanced and even elite ones! Who would have thought, pointy stick = OP! 😁

Thank you, everyone, for your continued support and see you soon in the next Summary of Progress entry!
