Summary of Progress #5

summary of progress

Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with developing games. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly do we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!

Gimle: The Broken Prophecy

Hey, everyone! We hope that the last two weeks have been as good and fruitful for you as they were for us! The wonderful summer weather outside the window gives us extra power to work even harder, so we have quite a lot of cool stuff to show you today 🙂 Once again, our titles – Gimle: The Broken Prophecy and Builder of Greece have been enriched with interesting novelties – and we can’t wait to tell you all about them. All right, without further ado …

Spooky graveyards and burial places of Gimle

It comes as no surprise, that the afterlife, the undead and the spirit world are important elements of the world of Gimle. Regardless of whether you are a great hero or just a plain peasant – when your time comes, you deserve a dignified burial. During your epic journey through the world of Norse myths, you are sure to discover a multitude of graveyards and cemeteries. Some of them abandoned and forgotten forever… and some full of mysteries and lurking dangers.

Our graphic designers made sure that every time you pass the ancient Viking tombs you will feel a shiver of uncertainty and curiosity. Inspired by the great Nordic style, they managed to create truly atmospheric, deep locations. Remember about it when you pass one of them – be sure to stop by for a while and take a moment to appreciate their great work! Who knows, maybe thanks to this you will discover some hidden, awesome secret?

Changes and novelties in the hero's movement system

Once we find the cool cemetery, we need to know how to navigate through it, right? It was a job just for our IT specialists. For the last two weeks they have been thinking (among other things) about how to improve the hero’s in-game movement system. Many solutions and options were tested, many ideas turned out to be good or unfit for the game. We’re still working on making character controls as comfortable and intuitive as possible, and after the last two weeks we’re getting closer to our goal!

Builders of Greece

Now that we know what was happening in the dark world of Viking myths, let’s move on to ancient Greece. In the last two weeks our attention has focused not on buildings (as was the case in the previous Summary of Progress), but on people. Without them, even the most wonderful Polis would not be able to function, let alone be successful and grow in strength. Let’s say good morning to our citizens!

TOWNSWOMAN, FARMER AND MANY MORE!

As mentioned above, it is your subjects who are the most important element of your kingdom. Without their work, dedication, and… taxes 🙂 you wouldn’t be able to run your magnificent city. That’s why this time we took care of the creation of all kinds of characters that fill the streets, workshops, and houses of your empire.

Let us take the example of a farmer – a brave worker who, despite the searing sun and sweat on his forehead, makes sure that his family and neighbors have something to put on a plate. Food producers are one of the main pillars on which society rests. Remember about them (and about meeting their needs!) during your reign.

The townsperson devotes herself to other kinds of jobs. You can often meet her at the market, in the theater, at school, or in the inn. People like her make up the largest group of your subjects – dealing with important and useful tasks, that keep your community as a whole.
