Hello there! The following series is a kind of journal of our adventure with developing games. If you want to take part in it and find out what exactly do we do to move our titles towards their premiers, check back regularly! Cheers!
GIMLE: THE BROKEN PROPHECY
As every two weeks, we come back to you with a handful of news about our projects! And as every two weeks, we are very excited to tell you about the progress of our work! Needles to say, we’re also just as excited to hear your feedback or suggestions for our games. If you believe you have a brilliant idea (no worries, we love them all!), be sure to let us know! You can do it using our ▶ Discord server or Social Media channels. And now – here we go with the #8 part of Summary of Progress! 🙂
Earn favor or disapproval of your people - learn more about the Honor system
You can rest assured that people of Gimle are closely watching your moves and doings. You have to remember that your actions have consequences… which affect how others will treat and see you in the future. RPG games are not only about fighting hordes of enemies (although this element is very important) – it is also about interactions with various characters in the in-game world. Will you give them reasons to like you? Will you make them trust you? Or, on the contrary – what if your decisions make them dislike you? Well… everything is in your hands!
To determine the attitude of the NPCs to the player’s character, we have created a special honor system. The main premise of its operation is quite simple – do good, and people will respect you, be dishonorable, and people will pay you back the same. We are sure you know how seriously the Vikings took their honor – you better not defile yours with evil choices!
Make no mistake, your relationships with other characters will have a big impact on your entire Gimle adventure. For example, people who respect and like you will be happy to see you and will cheer on your sight. A positive attitude towards you also means more interaction with NPCs, access to a wider range of missions, or additional dialogue options. Some of them may even want to lower the price of their precious goods. These little favors can be really important at times! Ok, but how do I become an honorable man? Spare a defeated, defenseless enemy. Solve the problem of the inhabitants of the town you travel through. Do not steal. Do not beat people you meet without reason… at least not too often. We are sure you get the idea
RATTLING BONES, RUSTY SWORDS, AND GRINNING SKULLS - THE UNDEAD ARE HERE!
Re-killing the undead soldiers is undoubtedly among the honorable deeds. Unfortunately, they are not lacking in the world of Gimle, so you will certainly have a chance to prove yourself! For the last two weeks, our artists have been working on their whitened bones, worn out equipment, and scary appearance, so that each meeting with the undead would be an unforgettable experience Just look at their skewed postures, naked ribs, armor remnants… so cool! It’s worth noting that different undead enemies vary from each other in size, decomposition, and their armaments – no more boring, repetitive clashes!
Builders of Greece
We are very happy to see the rapid development of this project. Day by day we enrich it with new features, graphic elements, and various mechanics. That being said, we think this is a good time to reveal a little secret… the latest screenshots are simply amazing! We hope they will be ready to be presented in the next part of the Summary of Progress series. This is not a promise but we will do our best! Anyway, let us leave the future for a while and return to the presence. Let’s see what have we been working on recently.
Visual Improvements of the environment and trees
As we mentioned in the previous “Summaries”, we are working on improving and beautifying the graphics of Builders of Greece. Currently, we mainly deal with the environment that surrounds the player’s city – we want to keep it as realistic and pleasing to the eye as possible. Trees are certainly a very important element of such an environment. During the game, they will permanently appear on our screen – they often cover large areas of the in-game world and are easy to find wherever we point our camera to.
That’s why we’re giving them a lot of attention right now and making sure that they look just as planned. Soon you will be able to cut them down, turn them into planks, tools, and other important goods… or just admire their natural beauty!
Your city is now enriched with two more buildings - Cattle Farm and Marble Pit
The more of them, the better – we think most of us agree with this statement! The wide range of buildings at your disposal mean more extensive, more interesting, and a bit more demanding gameplay. And that’s exactly what we want to give our players!
Having that in mind, we have been working on increasing the pool of buildings that you can choose from. All right, what are these buildings? The first of them is the Cattle Farm – just look at this adorable cows grazing on the fresh, green grass! To operate efficiently, the farm needs a constant supply of hay – be sure to take care of its production before inviting cow breeders to your Polis!
The second building we want to tell you about is the Marble Pit. Having one of them in your city will allow you to obtain valuable stone, which is used to build prestigious buildings, such as temples or houses of the richest inhabitants of your city. So classy!
