First steps toward greatness
Take a deep breath… your very own saga is about to begin… As a Frontier, you found yourself among dense, misty forests, mountain peaks, rushing rivers and uncharted territory. You will call this place home from now on. In order to survive, you will have to utilize the land under your authority and use it to obtain valuable resources.
Although at first glance it seems quite simple, believe us… the devil is in the details 🔱 In future entries of this series, we will delve much deeper into the different types of raw materials, buildings you can erect, production systems, or combat, but for now all you need is a general idea.
But… how did you actually get here? Well, no matter how far back in history we look, we will always find ambitious rulers wanting to expand their influence and territories. And it is no different this time. Acting on the command of the great Jarl, you have been dispatched to uncharted territories with the objective of conquering and bringing them into submission, establishing a new realm under your ruler’s authority 🧭 However, deep within, you sense that there is something more to it… a second, hidden meaning. What could it be? And why does your master care so much about it? The time for such deliberations will arrive soon, but first you will have to secure the survival of both yourself and your people.
It will be your task to build (often with your own hand!) 🔨 the very first shelter in your settlement, and then develop it further and further by building more advanced production, residential, or military buildings. Your tribesmen and you cannot function without a roof over your head, food storage, and many other useful facilities, can you now? Thanks to smart planning and an addictive building system, your camp will soon turn into a small town full of life and interesting people. However, buildings alone are not enough – the true spirit of your colony are your subjects.
People of your settlement
They are the ones who will, over time, take over part of your responsibilities and engage in various types of work. It is them who will be spending their working days in workshops, farmlands and other important facilities. You, as ruler, will have to distribute their work wisely and make sure they are productive and efficient. Make no mistake – only joint effort can ensure your settlement’s safety and prosperity, and no Jarl, no matter how powerful, cannot do on their own 🤓 That is why it is so important to take care of the needs of your subjects and provide them with appropriate living and working conditions. However, there is a catch to this promising vision. You must be aware that your growing influence is a thorn in the side of many local warlords and masters ⚔ Their hostile ambitions cannot remain unanswered! Will you be able to gather a team of battle-seasoned troops and send out your raids to destroy enemy forces? Will you secure your influence and keep your honorable title of Jarl? Well… only time will tell.
